Artificial Intelligence · Applied, Not Hyped

AI in service of judgment, built into projects that get owned

We apply AI where it earns its keep, on real operational problems with a business case behind them. Predictive control for community-owned energy, crop intelligence for indoor farms, and decision tools the community owns, governed by Indigenous data sovereignty.

About This Practice

Applied AI that makes projects faster, cheaper, and better

People are right to be cautious about AI. So are we. We do not use it to cut corners or replace the thinking, and we never hand a community a black box. We use AI inside the projects we develop, where it measurably improves how a system runs, and a senior professional stands behind every recommendation it informs.

For First Nations economic development, that means AI applied to things that matter, such as an energy system that dispatches power more efficiently, a farm that grows more with less, or a decision tool a Council actually owns. Because every engagement is governed by OCAP® principles, the data, the models, and the intellectual property stay with the community. Indigenous data sovereignty is the starting point.

What we do

  • AI-driven microgrid optimization for predictive energy dispatch, in development for a community-owned hybrid system
  • Crop intelligence and AI-managed growing conditions, planned within a flagship indoor farm
  • Nation-owned AI decision tools in development, governed by OCAP® principles and Indigenous data sovereignty
  • AI feasibility and business cases that pass funder and board scrutiny
  • Expressions of interest authored and AI innovation funding won, including $1M from Alberta Innovates

What we have done. We have submitted expressions of interest, planned flagship deployments, and won AI innovation funding. We are deliberately measured. AI goes into a project only when it makes that project faster, cheaper to operate, or better. It never goes in as a demo that never ships.

How We Help

From an operational problem to an owned tool

Find the real problem

We start with an operational pain point and a business case.

Build it responsibly

Models built and validated with a senior professional accountable, and the data governed by OCAP® from day one.

Hand over ownership

The community owns the tool, the data, and the capacity to use it, with training so it keeps working after we leave.

Common Questions

AI questions we hear most

How do you use AI in projects?

Where it earns its keep, on a real operational problem with a business case behind it. Examples include predictive energy dispatch for a community-owned microgrid and crop intelligence for an indoor farm. AI supports judgment, it never replaces the senior professional accountable for the recommendation.

Who owns the data and the AI tools you build?

The community does. Every engagement with a Nation is governed by OCAP® principles, so data, models, and intellectual property rest with the community. Indigenous data sovereignty is built into the design from the start.

Is this just AI hype, or have you delivered with it?

We are deliberately measured about AI. We have submitted expressions of interest and won AI innovation funding, including $1M from Alberta Innovates, and we build AI into projects only where it makes them faster, cheaper to run, or better. We do not build pilots that never leave the lab.
