A federal initiative that aligns multiple departments behind Indigenous-led economic development, including clean energy through SPI's regional clean energy initiatives ($12M annually until 2027). On the Prairies these are the Saskatchewan Indigenous Clean Energy Initiative (SICEI) and the Alberta Indigenous Clean Energy Initiative (AICEI), co-delivered by PrairiesCan and Indigenous Services Canada. SICEI is in its final funding year, so start conversations early.
Complex projects touch several federal mandates at once. SPI exists to coordinate departments behind a single Indigenous-led initiative instead of forcing communities to stitch programs together alone. SICEI applies the same model to clean energy.
In practice. We structured a clean energy hybrid microgrid pilot application under SICEI as part of a layered, multi-program funding strategy.
We define the initiative so several federal departments can line up behind one coherent ask.
One application logic, built once, that serves every partner at the table.
Where the project is energy, we position it for the SICEI stream specifically.
SPI aligns the departments around your initiative, which reduces duplicated paperwork and conflicting requirements. The application logic is built once and serves every partner.
Streams vary by initiative and intake. We position projects so planning awards lead naturally into implementation funding.
Tell us what you want to build and we will map the funding path, SPI / SICEI included or not.
